History Sustainability traces
the human dominated ecological system from the earliest civilisation to the
present. When we talk about sustainability, we have to en counter that it’s
everything that we need for our survival and well-being. It could either be
directly or indirectly (Epa.gov, 2007). When engaging within the Australian
curriculum history, sustainability plays a major role in ensuring that the
development of historical knowledge, understanding and skills are displayed in
a context that allows students to enhance their development (Australiancurriculum, n.d.).
Let’s take a look at this
image fore stance; the whole purpose for this image is for the student to
engage, and see of sustainability from a different perspective. “Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and
nature can exist in productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the social,
economic and other requirements of present and future generations. Sustainability is important to making sure
that we have and will continue to have, the water, materials, and
resources to protect human health and our environment. (Epa.gov,
2007).
This is where student develop
their understanding and how to relate in terms of environment changes over
time, how much the communities and each individuals contribute in protecting to
the environment (Australiancurriculum, n.d.).
